On the evening of Saturday December 9th, 2006, Hawaiian eyes will shift from the waves of Pipeline to the backyard of Steve “Cholo” Ellis to witness some of the greatest skateboarders in the world compete in a one-of-a-kind event. Quiksilver’s North Shore Bowl Jam presented by Vans, Red Bull and Skateboarder will showcase the talents of 25 of today’s top riders as they compete for a piece of a $10,000 cold cash. This unique contest features a “rider’s choice” judging format where the skaters competing pick their own champions.

Cholo’s bowl was built in 2004 by the elite Dreamland Skateparks crew to the specifications of North Shore staple and lifelong skater, Steve Ellis. The butter-smooth bowl sits in an Eden-like jungle setting, is amoeba shaped and lined with perfect coping.

Riders competing in the event have been hand picked and feature a great mix of styles from legends like Danny Way and Steve Caballero, to top pros including Arto Saari, Rune Glifberg and Peter Hewitt.

Vans will host a Hawaiian wildcard competition earlier in the day. The top two Hawaiians from the wildcard comp will join the 23 pro riders in the main event Saturday night.
This event is sure to be one for the ages.
