Benefit Show at Hensley’s Pub

Local rock band Dynamite Walls will play a concert at Hensley’s Flying Elephant Pub and Grill in Carlsbad, CA on November 17, 2007. DJ Savage will provide pre-show entertainment. The show will benefit Encinitas resident Komei Oka, a victim of a brutally violent attack in July 2007. The attack left Oka with extensive injuries, requiring facial reconstructive surgery, leaving him with hospital and other medical bills currently totaling over $100,000.

Doors open at 7:00 PM. Dynamite Walls will take the stage at 9:00 PM. There is no cover charge, but a $10 donation is requested to help with Komei Oka’s medical expenses. A silent auction/raffle will also be held for prizes ranging from footwear and apparel to surfboards and snowboards from southern California action sports companies. Sponsors include Adio Footwear, O’Neill Clothing, Lost Clothing, and Rusty Surfboards, among others.

About Dynamite Walls: San Diego’s Dynamite Walls recently returned from their nationwide tour promoting their new self-released album entitled “The Blinding Lights Above,” which Jim Trageser of the North County Times calls “a confident slice of wall-of-sound pop melodicism” and “45 minutes of decadence.” He goes on to call Dynamite Walls “a band so tightly woven that is in essence a single instrument.” This show is among the few that they will be playing in San Diego this year.

About Hensley’s Flying Elephant Pub and Grill: Owner Matt Hensley, professional skateboarder, accordion player and co-founding member of the Irish-American punk band Flogging Molly, purchased Squid Joe’s earlier this year remaking it as the Flying Elephant. Hensley recently returned from Ireland recording for the band’s next album, expected in early 2008.
