DC's King Of LA
DC’S KING OF LOS ANGELES TAKES OVER THE CITY IN LATE JUNE
DC GLOBAL SKATE TEAMS TO HIT THE STREETS OF LOS ANGELES FOR AMATEUR SKATEBOARDING CONTESTS
Vista, CA... DC’s King of Los Angeles event is only weeks away from its official kick-off on June 19, 2007. The three-week long event combines four amateur skateboarding contests with a team trip that includes DC team members from the U.S., Europe, Canada and Australia to create one of the largest events for DC Skateboarding since The DC Video Premiere Tour in 2003. The DC King of L.A. will be the first of three stops, as the series then travels to Barcelona and Sydney in late 2007.
DC’s worldwide skate team members will descend on L.A. to take part in the event. Joining Danny Way, Colin McKay, Rob Dyrdek, Josh Kalis, Ryan Gallant, Brian Wenning, Ryan Smith, Lindsey Robertson, Devine Calloway, Greg Myers, and Sean Malto; will be Canadian team members Sascha Daley, Paul Trepanier, and Morgan Smith; European skateboarders Jody Smith, Manuel Margreiter, Laurent Gehin, Antony Lopez and Ruben Garcia; as well as Australian skaters Andrew Currie and Sammy Winter. The teams will be on hand to skate L.A., judge contests, and sign autographs at shops and demos.
The DC King of L.A. will begin on June 19, with a DC Team demo at Active, and conclude with the final DC King of L.A. skate contest on July 7 at Los Angeles City College. Contests will be held at some of L.A.’s most infamous skate spots as local ams compete for over $10,000 in cash and prizes. For those spots that didn’t get approved for skate contests by the City of Los Angeles, DC is working with builder Jeff King to create exact replicas of L.A.’s notorious skate locations.
The DC King of L.A. schedule is as follows:
June 19: DC King of L.A. begins: DC Team signing and demo at Active Ride Shop. Transworld “Let’s Do This” Screening.
June 21: Go Skateboarding Day— DC Team signing at United.
June 23: First DC King of L.A. event at Lockwood Ave Elementary School. Contest will be held on Lockwood’s playground on DC’s picnic tables.
June 24: Second DC King of L.A. event at Hubert H. Bancroft Middle School. Held at the school’s bump to table featured in numerous skate videos.
June 28: Brooklyn Projects autograph signing
June 30: Liberty Shop signing
July 1: Third DC King of L.A. Event at the Barker Hangar. This empty airport hangar located in Santa Monica will be used to house a replica Chino Hills 4 block. Along with the replica of this renowned spot, the hangar will also house a complete demo course for skate sessions with the DC team.
July 7: Fourth and Final DC King of L.A. Event at Los Angeles City College. The contest will be held on a replica Wilshire 10 stair rail. Since the LACC Track Rail is gone, and L.A. wouldn’t be L.A. without the Wilshire 10, this crucial spot is included in the line up.
Information on the entire Los Angeles event including contest registration, directions and FAQ’s will be available at DC’s King of… website (www.dckingof.com
DC’s inaugural King of… Event began in New York in 2006. The contest launched successfully across New York’s five boroughs. Culminating at Manhattan’s legendary Brooklyn Banks, The DC King of New York contest called on amateur skateboarders from all over the city to do battle for the coveted DC King of... title.
