NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2006 Volume I, Issue 2 MESSAGE FROM MARKOVICH

Just taking some time out from filming and shooting photos to give you the skinny on what’s going on at Crimson these days. The Crimson staff is hard at work shipping holiday orders to shops while I’ve been working on a new catalog that will include a new pro series, team boards, wheels and t-shirts. A tour podcast is in the works, so be on the look out for that. Last but not least, I hope everyone has a good holiday season. Thank you for all your support.

CRIMSON TEAM UPDATE

Steve Fauser
Crimson would like to welcome Steve Fauser to the team. For those of you who don’t know Steve, he’s one of Illinois’ finest who rips everything put in front of him and is steadily making a name for himself. I’m psyched Steve is finally a part of Crimson, I’ve wanted him to be on the team before Crimson was even a name. It’s a rarity in skateboarding nowadays to find someone who completely rips, and does not have an attitude to go along with it! Steve is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and you can bet he will produce more skate photos in a week, than most do in a year! So we’re in the beginning stages of talking about filming a full-length video that will be out sometime in the future. If you can’t wait that long to see Fauser skate, you can check out his part in the latest Scarecrow video, and the Rise Skateshop video A Tie That Binds. Check that whole video out, it’s really good and Rick Eusey has a sick part in there as well!

Kris Markovich
I’m taking time out from working on the new catalog to film in Arizona with Rick Eusey, and getting ready to start a Skateboarder interview. I’m also working on the next Crimson podcast with ace cameraman and editor, Bryan Forwood aka (Slugger)! On December 16th, I’ll be Pensacola, FL in a benefit contest for John Collins. John has brain cancer and proceeds from the contest will be going toward his treatment. My first ad is out now in the Nov/Dec issue of FTK and the Skateboard Mag Issue #34.

Rick Eusey
Now that he’s not in Indiana, the Big Red headed monster, known as Rick Eusey, is enjoying a warmer winter. The warmer weather in Arizona has allowed Rick to film and shoot photos without freezing any of his body parts off! When Ricks not shredding the Tempe park, you can bet he’s shredding the pool table at the Time Out! Place your bets if you dare, but your wallet may be a bit thinner when you’re done! Keep your eyes peeled for Rick’s “Who’s Hot” in an upcoming issue of Skateboarder.

Jeremiah Babb
Jeremiah Babb has been holding it down in the ATL! Check out Jeremiah’s sequence on www.atlantahatesus.com. Can’t get enough of Miah and the Atlanta skate scene? Go to www.livinsick.com for more photos and news from the dirty south. Who would have thought that you could get sponsored by a beer coozie company? That’s right, Jeremiah will be keeping his hands warm and beer cold with DAF coozie’s . Visit www.dafskate.com for the team and cozies. Pick up the newest Slap and check out Miah’s photo in the Ryan Flynn photo article!

Vince Del Valle
Vince Del Valle is a new addition to our AM team. He lives in Seattle and skates everything with an effortless style that most will kill for. After strong outings at GVR and Damn Am, he hopped in the van with the rest of the crew for The Make–A–Wish tour. Back smith on rails second try is no joke!!!!! Be on the look out for Vince’s first video part in the Seattle video In Focus, premiering on Dec. 22 at the Crest. If you live in the area, make sure to check it out. You can also see Vince in the soon to be released, Adidas promo. Check out www.crimsonskateboards.com.com for his profile.

James Atkin
After almost breaking his toe from some drunken shenanigans on the Make-A-Wish trip, were glad to report James is alive and well, and ripping as we write this. Watch out who your slapping there little buddy! James Atkin has been trekking back and forth between Southern California and Utah getting his shred on! I’m pretty sure he’s in the car right now! Keep your eyes peeled for the James footy and photos, for those unfamiliar with James’ skating, take my word for it, the guy is amazing! Or just wait and see!

Richie Belton
Richie Belton finally has a normal sized foot again! Richie had a little mishap trying to leap off a damn building two days before tour! I’m all for you jumping off things, but take it easy before a road trip, homie. It’s all good though, the tour wouldn’t have been the same without him, and there were Belton sightings in the parks by the end of the trip! Richie has been getting his shred on at the Adio park daily, getting his tranny skills up to par. Richie can also be found in Oceanside skating with the Asylum crew as their newest shop rider. Rumor has it Richie will be out in Arizona... (we’re having a contest to see who’s dirtier, him or Rick!)

Danny Scher
Danny Scher finally has a cell phone! This may not sound like a big deal to most, but you try and get a hold of someone that is on a constant couch surfing tour with no cell phone. Now, we just have to make sure he has minutes on the damn thing! It’s a safe bet to show up any afternoon at the Adio park and you will find a curly haired blurr flying around! If you haven’t been lucky enough to see Danny skate live, well first off I’m sorry about that, but take my word for it, he’s amazing! Danny is one of those kids that makes sketching a trick look so smooth, it makes you want to dig deep into your bag, and try and pull out some weird tricks, just to keep up. Danny is shooting for an interview for an upcoming issue of Automatic and shredding everything in North County San Diego! Call me back Big D!

MAKE A WISH TOUR RECAP

Instead of trick or treating and dressing up for Halloween, this year the Crimson crew loaded up a 15 passenger van and hit the road on our inaugural tour. Our crew consisted of team riders: Kris Markovich, James Atkin, Richie Belton, Rick Eusey, Danny Scher, Vince Del Valle, Team Manager Charlie Thomas, filmer Slugger, and the Skateboard Mag photographer, Adam Conway. You can bet that, with that many people in a van, and with a schedule like we had--some mischief was going to ensue! Everyone was excited and ready for some serious ripping, except Richie, who showed up sporting a pair of Crutches complete with homemade cup holders. Yes, the homemade cup holders were definitely put to use! The trip was planned around the 10th Annual Make-A-Wish event in Houston, TX with stops in Texas, Louisiana, and Arizona. Two weeks, 4700 miles, taking best team honors at the Texas Skate Jam, 5 demos, 3 autograph signings and street skating in between… mix that all in a pot with some serious drives, and you have the first Crimson Tour!

Lowlights:
Speeding ticket in El Paso (that was only a lowlight for Charlie, no other time was he ticketed!) Richie’s purple foot didn’t help with his skating too much! Yes, he was hurt for the whole trip. James Atkin slamming on his chin, then getting his lip split open, then almost breaking his toe—all in the same day. Here’s a couple of new rules to go by: Don’t skate slippery parks with gloves on that have no grip on them, and don’t slap someone who will hit back! Freezing cold weather in Dallas (the park is amazing, but there was an infestation of bikes and rollerbladers). Yes, Rollerblades are alive and well there…WEIRD! Rick sleeping under the van and getting his leg run over (that is a story in and of itself that I’m sure would need several pages and an R rating! Just don’t sleep under vehicles sober or not!). Losing the rental van keys (again this one was on Charlie since he was the one having to deal with it. The rest of us just laid around. Yeah, we helped scour the van, but it was quickly apparent that the keys were sucked into a blackhole in the van and were gone forever. Three hours, and five dollars later we were all good!) Needless to say, this trip was plagued with injuries (with a group of guys that push each other the way we do, your bound to push it a bit too far, and with as much skating as we did in such short amount of time—we ALL got wrecked! All good though, we’re alive and well, and we’re all onto bigger and better things!)

Thank you’s to: Ripperz in Lake Charles (hit me up if you need help with designs for the park we talked about), Humidity in New Orleans (I wish we could have stayed longer, say hi to the cat in the window for me), Skatepark in Lafayette (what’s up with the old man bowl jam?) Ruckus in Baton Rouge (holy alligator tail and boudin balls, thank you so much! Big Brad the session was amazing!). Thanks to the Skatepark of Austin, Charlie wants his hip back please! Arizona’s amazing parks and the team killing it at every demo! Thank you to Starr Skates in Tucson (how’s the couch holding up?) and thank you Cowtown (tell Otto I’m dying for a slice).

Good times were had by all and if you missed us, be on the lookout for the podcast coming soon. Once again, a big Crimson Thank You goes out to all of the shops that we hit up on the way! You guys rule!
