eS Introduces New Shoe: The Scale
Through their commitment to making the best skate shoe possible, eS has taken a new angle on shoe design. Their team of skate shoe scientists, Sole Technology Institute (STI), realized a seemingly simple fact that track stars have known for years: the less a shoe weighs, the easier it is to move one’s feet.
With the development of a new type of foam, which STI calls “Evolution Foam,” eS has come up with a shoe that weighs a mere 380 grams. With less weight, the skater would have a more natural sensation closer to that of being barefoot rather than lugging around a heavy shoe that causes a lag in movement (or at least that’s my excuse).
Basically, they’ve remodeled the sole of the shoe by replacing 80% of the old school rubber with this new Evolution Foam. However, they’re not sacrificing the structural integrity of the shoe, as the Evolution Foam “is extremely resilient and long lasting,” so says the STI team.
A lighter shoe without sacrifice? Sounds like eS hit the mark with The Scale. If you’re interested in further information, go check out the website dedicated solely to The Scale at http://www.thelightestshoe.com/. Happy skating.
