Simpel Session won by youngest winner ever

Press Release
January 20, 2009

Simpel Session, Europe's biggest winter BMX and skate event ended on Sunday evening. This year’s skate street was won by 14-year-old Axel Cruysberghs, who is the youngest winner in Simpel Session’s history. BMX street was won by last year’s winner Garrett Reynolds.

Cruysberghs was competing at Simpel Session for the second year, in 2008 he made it to the finals but this year no-one else was better than him. “I’m very happy. I thought Phil Zwijsen or Jereme Rogers will win, but I won instead,” commented Session’s youngest winner ever. Jereme Rogers won the Snickers Best Trick Competition.

Second year in a row Garrett Reynolds rocked at BMX-street. “I got lucky, I didn’t know all my tricks would succeed,” said Reynolds. He also added that he loved the competition, the skate park and audience and promised to be back next year. “As long as I’m not dead, I’ll be here,” he added laughing.

Everybody who did not make it to Tallinn this year had the possibility to take part in the competition by watching it online. Mpora.tv streamed a high-quality Live Webcast from Simpel Session and more than 148 thousand people watched it online worldwide. Some highlights: HERE.

Simpel Session 09, which was held on 17th and 18th January at the Saku Arena, Tallinn, Estonia, is successfully over. This year, more than 140 contestants from 28 countries competed, partied and had fun for a long weekend. This year’s Simpel Session was hosted by Dave Duncan and Zack “Catfish” Yankush. The skate park was designed by Nate Wessel. Check SIMPEL SESSION for more details and news.

Simpel Session is the biggest winter BMX and skateboarding festival in Europe and also one of the most international extreme sport events in the World. This year the festival was held for the 9th time and organized by Elamussport. The festival has done much to promote Estonia among BMX riders and skateboarders all over the world and in 2007, the portal Fatbmx selected Simpel Session as one of the 10 best BMX events.
