SANTA CRUZ SKATEBOARDS “V-DAY” VIDEO PREMIERE PARTY @ THE BLANK CLUB

There was simply no better venue for Santa Cruz to host the Veterans Division “V-Day” Video Premiere than Corey O’Brien’s Blank Club in San Jose. Plug in Ray Stevens II’s band, skate rock legends “The Clay Wheels” and Tom Knox’s band “The Cacti Widders” and you have yourself one hell of a party.

People from both San Francisco and Santa Cruz will drive to San Jose for a good show and thus their was an eclectic mix of skateboarding’s finest in attendance including Rick Blackheart, Mofo, Jeff Kendall & wife Maureen, Bob Denike, Eric Dressen, Keith Meek, Dave Freil, Aaron Godoy, V-Day editor Jeff Duncan, skate photographer Ted Terribone, and of course Tom Knox, his wife Margie and the rest of the “Widders”.

After the crowd was primed and ready, V-Day played first and based on the response from the crowd, they were stoked on what they saw and the soundtrack which includes The Adolescents, The Highway Murderers, The Cacti Widders, ADHD, The Rabies, Excel and more.

The Clay Wheels kept the party going with a blazing set of classic punk sound that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. If you get the chance to see these guys live, don’t miss it, you won’t be disappointed. Tom and the Cacti Widders followed with some serious rock & roll kicking things off with a Metallica riff lead into to their first song that got everyone hyped. Look for a new album from the Widders coming in May. All & all, a great night out - thanks to everyone that showed up.
V-Day will be in stores soon – pick up a copy to add to your skate DVD archives.
