Best and Worst of 09
Well, 2010 is officially here and it only took us six days into the New Year to announce it to you. So, if you were wondering why 2009 lasted almost another full week without us letting you know it was gone, we apologize. Profusely.
Last year was interesting to say the least. Nude, mushroom-and-Christ inspired rooftop sermons. Celebrity deaths re-reinventing alleged pedder asses as Pop Legends. Crab-core sweeping the "underground" nation. Chris Cole skating to Jeezy. The shamwow guy and his hooker boxing. Tiger Woods' extramarital exploits. Dylan Rieder's Gravis slip-on. Mind Field. Going up shit. And a whole shitboat full of other fun, weird, expected and unexpected nonsense. Instead of boring you with our personal choices for the best and worst last year brought to the table, we thought we'd share with you some lists that other people have concocted. Enjoy and have a good 2010.
Here are also the year's best fails according to College Humor
Boil the Ocean has a top 10 video parts of 2009 and a quick synopsis of oh nine:
2009 will live on in infamy as the year that Jereme Rogers, corporate footwear conglomerates and a Berrics advertising programme collectively obliterated skateboarding forever.Read more here
QuarterSnacks, which brought you Boil the Ocean's top pick for best video part of 09, took the arrival of the New Year as a sign to recap the events of the first decade of the new millennium. A lot of their choices are (appropriately) New York City based, but regardless of where you live, if you have a sense of humor and ride a skateboard (oddly, that's not a given any more), you'll probably enjoy what the minds at Quartersnacks have to say.
"In perhaps the longest-standing relationship between an ironic facet of rap music and skateboarders, Cam’ron’s implementation of “no homo” into his vernacular made “no homo” a relatively commonplace social contract between heterosexuals and questionable verbal expressions indicating potential interest in the same sex. It also yielded a pretty lame “I Love NY (NO HOMO)” t-shirt."Read More Here
Buddyhead has their list of best and worst albums of 2009 up and running. Their writing is full of piss and vinegar and is sure to get some American Apparel panties in a bunch:
On Animal Collective's new album:
"Lazy music journalists tried to act like these nerds armed with bongos and delay pedals were the second coming of The Beatles or some shit. Everyone from Mojo to Rolling Stone to Pitchdork seemed to have these fruitcakes somewhere in their top five records for 2009. These dudes couldn’t write a song if their lives depended on it, they are to songwriting what “Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” is to cinema."Read More Here

Pitchfork has a ton of fairly in-depth music reviews on their site and they've compiled a bunch of lists to encompass all things music in 2009. Check it out if you're so inclined.
