Element Weekend at Skate Camp Day 2
Element Family weekend at Skate Camp Day 2...
Posted by John Bradford
A day full of fun activities at Element Skate Camp. Learn how to make a fire and purify water to survive, also cook a snake... all below.
Early morning ramp sesh.
Elemental Awarness' own Todd Larson gives the demonstration.
Todd shows us shelters that campers have made.
And a teepee that he made...
Okay, to make a fire... make a bundle of pine needles. This is your "tinder".
Take a stick and a board with a hole carved into it, these will create friction...
Male and female ends meet... Todds words...
Make sure theres a notch in the side, or else a coal won't form...
Demonstrates how friction causes heat...
Spin the stick in the hole using a bow, or just raw manpower.
A coal will form from the friction and small pieces of the wood...
Fan the coal to give it air...
Drop the coal into your bundle of tinder...
Blow on the tinder to give more air...
Until you have a flame... Everyone was impressed.
Marc Faulkenstein documents everything for the Element site.
Next to survive you must purify your water...
You can boil water with rocks from your fire you just made.
Wash them in one bath, and place them in a clean one.
The water boils quite quickly.
Levi Brown and his girlfriend Alma.
Todd shows what plants are edible for survival. No mushrooms!!!
Element's Michael Kershner paints his annual mural at camp.
Bam swims across the no swim zone.
Michael's finished mural.
...All time lapsed up by Ricki Bedenbaugh
Ricki and Justin Williams from Force.
Tim Tim lets nature call off the side of the ramp...
I wonder where Nick got his camera style from...
Element team manager Ryan Dewitt and Chad Tim Tim at dinner.
Laughing at Ryan's "stienlager" joke...
Later on that evening...
Dewitt's dog Gizmo partied with Levi's dog... They are old friends.
100% quiet gathering at the mess hall...
Then a quiet campfire at the teepee.
Cody Hager brought a rattlesnake to cook...
Nick tries the snake...
Tastes like "chicken fried shrimp".
